Evaluation

Aspects of design
-Need to be considered when solving problems or evaluating existing solutions.
-Purchasing a consumer item is an example of evaluating an existing solution.
-Aspects of design can be categorized in many ways such as the following:
Aspects of design 2
1. Function:
- Does the artefact do what it was designed to do?
:Yes, the artefact (lamp) do what it was designed to do. Working very well as a lamp.
- Does it perform effectively and efficiently?
:Yes. The perform effectively and efficiently!! The light is very bright but it only use 12 v. so on this part, think it perform efficiently.
- What improvements, if any, can be made to improve the artefact’s function?
: My lamp is bit unbalance on the bottom. because of the aluminum bottom and timber bass are not equal touch the ground. Maybe I should cut the aluminum part just upto timber.
2. Aesthetics:
- Very subjective (is often subject to personal taste and / or fashions of the times.)
: In personal sight, I'm really satisfying with my lamp. because it is Eco lamp and very bright. Also I'm really happy with my lamp design. it is very special different with other saling lamps in markets or any shops.

-   Relates to colour, shape, proportion, texture and other visual aspects of the artefact.
:The visual aspects of the artefact is almost perfectt. Include designs, clolour, propotion, texture, shape, brightness, convenience and usage. Also the lamp is only 12v Eco lamp which is good(?) for natural environment.
3. Economics:
          - Relates to cost associated with the development of the artefact
: Relaltes to cost associated with the develpment of the artefact, $56.80 spend for metal which is compasory to making this lamp. Other $70 is mostly take possession of my labour and time was the  necessary part for development of the artefacts.

          - The cost of materials, manufacturing, labour, advertising, transport, packaging, sales, administration.
Aluminum body $ 2.40 ($ 2.40)
Jarrah base $ 2.40 ($ 2.40)
Heat shrink $ 12.00 per meter (2cm/$ 0.25 (0.24)
LED strip $ 195.00 per meter (25 cm/$ 48.75)
Power code $ 2.80 ($ 2.80)
Poly propylene (white plastic) ($ 0.20)
  Material total cost:  $ 56.80 (56.79)

+labour ($ 10 per hour)
7 hours (workshop lesson)x 10
= $70
+$10 approx for packaging and manufacturing

  Total: $136.80
4. Ergonomics:
-Relates to the artefact’s interaction with the human body.
: N/A
-Comfort, safety, convenience, ease-of-use, smell, taste, ease-of sight
* The artefact is very comfortabel, convenience, very easy to use and easy to sight.
* Safety ergonomics: The sharp edge of the aluminum stick
* The ergonomic on this lamp was the LED light sticker... I attempt to put them on light place so I stick on and off about 3 times. So it lose adhensive;; But it may ergonomics of my skill...

df reflection 8

 Key Points:
-Cover the line
-Connect LED light

On this lesson I connect LED light together with the red and black electric lines and soldering them. And stick the connected LED light on the aluminium stick. Used 2 side tape to stick electric lines and then used something white and soft cardboard like thing for cover the lines so it looks much better!

 Key points
-Connect LED light
-Solding

On this lesson we've got LED light and electric wire which will solding with with the LED ligh but I only have done take the screw out so that I could make the line goes inside of timeber. And cut off some electric lines and LED light.

DF reflection 1-6 (10)

Main Key points of today's lesson
-Pilot hole
-power Drill
-Assembled the stem to the base

Mr Ward's back!! so we have our lesson in workshop. On this reflection, I forgot to take photo of my lamp... I will put photo on later if I could got on that step again. Honestly, I writtin this reflection after 2 lesson. But I could never put photo of today's step. Because I forgotten to take photo on lesson 7. and I already passed on. Anyway, we used 2 types of power drill and built up 2 pilot holes on our timber make stem to assembled on the base. And I burn my self by the drill...:'( That's what the whole lesson about. Well, the special events was that I broke a drill and it was stuck on my timber but Mr Ward easily make me out of the trouble! thank you :)

DF reflection 1-4 (Lesson 8)

We worked on our assignment today as well. I was decided to load up my task on this lesson reflection but I didn't brought my notes to home. so I will upload my answers when I got my notes and get my final answers in other post. Today was nothing special. we just worked on our task questions and that was the last lesson without Wardy!!! I'm so exciting about what we would do on next lesson. I publish this reflection on 26th of Feburary I actually wrote this lesson in our lesson after done all the questions but the bells gone while I'm writing so I just saved but not published. and the other times I tried to publish this reflection with my answers so I didn't publish earlier. But now I give up with that. sorry:) I'll have more reponse with publishing my lesson reflections as soon as I could! :)

DF reflection 1-5 (lesson 9)

Finally we had Mr Ward on this lesson :) so we were able to work in workshop and I finally decided my lamp design. And I was almost last person left to bend the aluminum stick. and I cut my timber in half diagonally and glue them in triangle. I think I work quick today:)! Bit proud my self about to getting near what the others up to although I started approx 4 lessons late:) This lesson reflection has late feeling but anyway..! The photo down below is my bent aluminum stick with design and timber! And special thanks for Mr Ward who bend 100 of aluminum sticks for whole year 9 classes:)!!!

df reflection 1-3 (Lesson 7)

I write this reflection on Lesson 4 (Lesson 8). it's just 1day between. Anyway, on yesterday's lesson as Mr Ward said, he wasn't in our lesson and that meant we cannot working in work shop, instead we had Mr Gerhardt who is the HPE teacher, mainly  basketall coaching. He is also my basketball training coah as well. I don't have many thing to write on. We were work on our assignment and i might be able to put that on next lesson reflection.

DF Lesson 1-2 (lesson 6)

We worked in Wardy's workshop today as well and this time Mr Ward bend our aluminium stick for us which will be the body of our lamp. Most people have done their aluminium bending and few did the timber as well. I draw a very rough design of my lamp and which one I gonna choose. And I finally decided near the end of the lesson finish. So I cannot have enough time to bend mine. The bad news was Mr Ward said that he wouldn't be here for DF lesson :'(. and we working on our assingment that day so we wouldn't have any homework:)!! Anyway, I couldn't draw detail design of my lamp like a 3D or like someothers did. Here it is!

DF Lesson 1-1

Today I had first DF (Design Future) lesson sine I being year 9 because I changed my one of elective subject into DF. Generally, it's 5th lesson but it was first lesson for me. But it was also their first lesson in Wardy's Working room :) I really enjoined DF when I was in year 8 and I excited to doing thoes such a designing, creating things and stuff. Now my start is bit late from other students. 'cause they already planed their design for lamp which we are going to make. So I weren't able to do what they did today in work shop. Hope I can catch up quickly! And I already have some plans in my head:). Hopely I could done good job on this and next whole year!
